POGO Covid Relief Spending
When the United States Government announced over 2.9 trillion dollars COVID-19 relief funds, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO) went on a mission to track every single penny. To determine whether the emergency funding is reaching the most vulnerable or not, the independent watchdog needed a robust tracker and a separate splash page about the project’s goals and findings.
With so many states, counties, and entities eligible for the relief fund payments, putting all data together from the full range of grants, loans, and contracts, as well as relevant agency spending, seemed a challenging task, but the exact type we love the most.
Our role in the project
Our skilled developers designed an interactive COVID-19 spending relief tracker (opens in a new tab) in React that displays up-to-date information on where the funds are going and industry overviews for each large sector.
Featuring a dynamic map and a more traditional table view, the intuitive tracker allows users to search by state, county, and ZIP code the payments directed to the specific recipients and agencies.
As relief funding reaches more areas and people, POGO’s splash page presents the most important conclusions. Here, you can also learn more about the project, the methodology, and how you can help POGO better investigate the Government’s response on COVID-19. We designed a smooth galaxy grid for the splash page to give users a general view of the main discoveries.
POGO has been investigating and exposing corruption for over 40 years. We’re happy to be part of their latest project that brings transparency and holds everyone accountable in these struggling times.
